2004 Columbia Crest Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Great dark garnet. Great ends there. Initially this was totally closed for business. After 1 hour some decent plush red and black fruits emerge on the nose. The palate was initially flabby in the middle and after the hour some nice currant and blackberry kirsch emerged. This is a mid weight cabernet. An ok acid level and maybe just a little hot, this is surely not the best example of this I have ever had. Hell, it's the worst actually. Its somewhat so-so mid-palate and an ok finish. An average Cabernet. 87 points

Did I tell you the color was....great?

You do realize that an "87" Point wine is one that is "VERY GOOD" on the 100 point scale. From your description, this sounds more like an 82 point wine (or less!).

I've enjoyed the CC Cabernets and would agree this '04 isn't a 90 pt wine, but I liked it enough (probably 87 points) and thought it was pretty good for the price, especially.

I guess (as I sit here on the 4th of July) we can be thankful have the freedom of our opinions.

My 87 point does not have to be your 87 points, To me an 87 pointer is decent to good.

That's why descriptors are more important than points.

Happy Fourth!
